Dax first rose to fame after playing a role as himself in MTV’s series Punk’d in which he appeared in almost 56 episodes from 2003 to 2012. Early Life:

Dax Randall Shepard was born in Highland Township, Oakland County, Michigan, on the 2nd of January 1975 in an Atheism household. His father Dave Robert Shepard worked as a car salesman and was an engineer for the Corvette, while his mother Laura was a businessperson who use to work in public relations for general motors.  Shepard was just 3 years old when his parents divorced and then he moved with his mother who raised him as a single parent. Dax was in high school when his mom Laura LaBo decided to become a successful entrepreneur to feed his son properly. While growing up Dax also helped his mother and join her at the racetracks.  As a teen, Dax moved all around the places including Milford, suburban Detroit, and Walled Lake, Michigan. Growing up in Michigan, he attended Walled Lake Central High School where he graduated in 1993. In high school, he was the class clown from where he developed an interest in stand-up comedy and acting. After high school graduation, he moved the Los Angeles to enroll at The Groundlings School.  In California Dax studied at Santa Monica Community College before attending West Los Angeles College. Film Career:

In 1996 Shepard moved to Los Angeles to pursue his professional career and as a comedian, he did five years of training which proved to be useful.  After his initial success with Punk’d, roles came easily for Dax Shepard and he continued to book for numerous roles in movies. Shepard got an opportunity to appear in films including Without a Paddle and Zathura: A Space Adventure which earned him some early recognition.  In 2006 Dax got the role of Vince Downey in the comedy film Employee of the Month in which he appeared alongside actress Jessica Simpson. In that same year, he played his first main character role as John Lyshitski in the comedy film Let’s Go to Prison and then gained popularity for his main character in the film Idiocracy.  In 2010, Dax appeared in the romantic comedy film When in Rome alongside his future wife Kristen Bell. Since then Shapred starred in numerous films including The Freebie, Hit and Run, Veronica Mars, This Is Where I Leave You, The Judge, and many more.  Dax’s performance as Jon Baker in the action comedy film CHiPS earned him a lot of fame. In this film, he also worked as a writer, director, and producer. Shepard came up as a writer, director, and stunt coordinator for the film Brother’s Justice which he also played Charlie Bronson 2012. In 2017 he starred in the film El Camino Christmas and followed up with his role in the 2020 movie Buddy Games. Dax voiced the character of Ruben in the Canadian computer-animated film PAW Patrol: The Movie. 

TV Career:

Apart from appearing in films, Dax also experienced success in the television industry. The turning point of his career came in 2003 when Dax landed a role in MTV’s Punk’d. Then in 2012 Dax reprised his role when Punk’d was rebooted. It was the actor Ashton Kutcher who helped him to arrange an agent for him.   He got the recurring role of Crosby Braverman in the comedy-drama series Parenthood in which he played the main character from 2010 to 2015. During that time Shepard starred in a handful of television series and shows such as Hollywood Game Night (2013), Web Therapy, About a Boy (2014), and many more. Dax began playing roles in TV series like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Parks and Recreation, Comedy Bang! Dax played the voice character Zack and Asa in the animated film King of the Hill in 2004 and 2008. Then in 2009, he landed the character of Steve in a short-lived animated sitcom The Goode Family. He portrayed voice roles in the 2011 film Good Vibes. Dax was cast for Titanium Dax in the stop motion animated SuperMansion. In 2021 Shepard provided vocals for the character of Ruben in the popular animated action-adventure film PAW Patrol: The Movie.

In this podcast, he began interviewing many celebrities, journalists, and academics about their lives, and within a short period, it became a massive success. According to some reports, Dax Shepard is earning more than $9 million from this most popular podcast.  Dax and his wife Kristen Bell collaborated on Samsung Galaxy a viral commercial in 2014 which garnered more than 20 million views on YouTube, becoming one of the most popular ads at that time. Personal Life:

In late 2007 Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell started dating and the couple first met through the help of their mutual friend who invited them on his birthday. After dating for almost three years the couple got engaged in early 2010. On October 17, 2013, Shaped and Bell married at the Beverly Hills County Clerk’s Office. In March 2013 they welcomed their first child a daughter named Lincoln Bell Shepard. Kristen gave birth to her second daughter named Delta Bell Shepard who was born on December 19, 2014.

Dax revealed that he used drugs in 1992 except for a year in high school and until the age of 18 he did not have a substance abuse issue. He achieved sobriety in September 2005, after many efforts associated with substance abuse.
