Nav was born Navraj Singh Goraya on the 3rd of November 1989, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and originally from India. His mother was involved in computer manufacturing and his father worked as a forklift driver in a Canadian factory. Nav had an interest in music from a very young age, especially after getting a boombox from his mother in the third grade. Nav’s uncle was a popular singer in India who encouraged him to pursue music, bringing him to the studio with him. Growing up, Nav started listening to classic hip-hop albums like JAY-Z, The Notorious B.I.G., Nas, and many others. Nav did his early studies at West Humber Junior Middle School, and then he completed his high school education at the Thistletown Collegiate Institute. Career:

The turning point of his career was when Nav got a chance to collab with the legendary artist Drake from whom he co-produced the single Back to Back for him. In 2015, the rapper dropped one of his first singles on Soundcloud titled Take Me Simple which went viral and has amassed over 10 million listens. In the very next year, Nav came up with the release of another hit single “Myself”, which he released on SoundCloud. The song quickly became a massive success. These hit singles led him to sign a deal with popular brands including Weekend’s label XO and then Republic Records. All of this exposure lead Nav to produce and get featured on Travis Scott’s single “Beibs in the Trap” which peaked at #90 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2017, Nav dropped a self-titled debut mixtape, and at the same time, he worked with Metro Boomin for the mixtape, Perfect Timing. Under the record labels XO and Records, Nav came up with the release of his debut studio album called Reckless which features guest appearances from Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, Gunna, and Quavo. The album became a hit by peaking at number 5 on both the US and Canadian (Billboard) charts as well as being certified Gold by RIIA and Platinum’ by Music Canada. Nav’s second studio album called Bad Habits was released in 2019 and it debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200. In the following year, the rapper collab with Gunna for the single Turks which became his highest-charting song by peaking at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100. In the same year, Nav dropped the third studio album Good Intentions, and then the deluxe edition titled Brown Boy 2.  At the end of 2020, he released the commercial mixtape Emergency Tsunami. Apart from that, Nav also received award nominations in 2018 he was nominated for the Juno Award in the category of ‘Breakthrough Artist of the Yea.’
