Ricky was born Ricardo Bell on the 18th of September 1967 in Roxbury, Boston, Massachusetts, to parents Daniel A and Dorothy Mae. Bell is of Puerto Rican, Guatemalan, Japanese, and Jewish descent. In 2004 Ricky Bell married an actress Amy Correal Bell in a double marriage with Tresvant. Bell had fought substance abuse in the mid-1990s. He began taking marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, alcohol, and Oxycontin. He even went so far as to lose his house and sold all of his private belongings to feed his addiction. As a result, he finally overdosed on cocaine and was almost close to the end of his life, leading him to enter rehab. Bell has stayed sober after completing therapy from rehab. Bell’s addiction struggles were not disclosed until the release of the miniseries back in 2017.
